It came back! It came back!

Because Yarny just erased everything I’d ever written on there and I had a freaken large amounts of notes on there.

The next morning she woke up to several realizations at once. The first was that falling asleep reading a book on a couch put a pinching kink in her neck, the second realization was that she was completely unprepared for pets who needed to relieve themselves somewhere, and the third was that the carpet in front of the fireplace was now a ruined mess of animal scat and puddles of pee. Rubbing at her face, she groaned and tried to pull herself out of her sleepy fog. Then she got up, rolled the carpet up, and dragged it outside, dumping it with the garbage pile that the caretaker had yet to get rid of. It was ugly anyway, with obnoxious pink peonies and butterflies that were too garish in pinks and oranges to actually exist. After that, she shooed the animals outside, had a shower to relieve her aching neck, and grabbed another muffin for breakfast.
It was a pretty day with a warm breeze and soft sunlight, but dismal clouds hovered around as though trying to band together to obscure the sun and wet everything below.
Sighing, she stared at her typewriter. It was all too much like a new relationship that hadn’t gotten past the awkward phase. They were polite to each other, but could really get past one tentative hello.
Waiting in the silence of the house, she wondered what she was expecting. Inspiration? Some kind of muse? She let her fingers stroke the polished surface of the quill box, debating if using it would go any better.
She stepped back. Tonight, she promised herself. Right now she would go into town and get a few more supplies, groceries and such. She nodded to herself. It was a practical plan, sensible. Sitting at the typewriter, she tapped out a list then took the hour drive into town.

sometimes my life feels like an awkward phase.
It happens to all writers, you have a great story and a character who just isn’t anything, but a dud. How do you give him/her life? I have found one of the best ways is to do personality profiles on my characters. Meyer’s Briggs tests will tell you how your character takes in information. The Enneagram will tell you what your character tends to do with that information and what their greatest weakness is. There are many others that can help too. Most of them have free tests on the internet that can help you pick traits, weaknesses, strengths, and attitudes. When you mix it all together, it can give you a great guideline to build a strong character.

Oh come on, we all had one…or are still in the midst of having one.

Good morning, world. It’s Monday. We have seven days to create a beautiful world. I think mine will have marshmallow trees and chocolate flowers. Maybe those are cliches. How about purple marshmallow trees with chocolate maple sap that only runs when the moon feels like playing in the ocean? Too ‘Alice in Wonderland’? I think I’m having a chocolate day.

”Now.” Emery tapped a wooden spoon against the counter to get everyone’s’ attention; or at least she tried to. A lot can be said for the attention spans of people under the age of nineteen. That they are improved when put into a group, is not one of them. Basil and Ro were caught in a in depth debate about whether or not their gym teacher would be able to take on The Hulk, - Ro: For; Basil: Against -Tris and Briar were of course caught up in each others eyes - again-, and little Will kept trying to eat unsweetened chocolate that Emery had set out on the counter. Meanwhile, the rest of the ingredients stood by, waiting to be made into a nice big batch of fudge.
All of this caused Emery to ponder two things. One: How much longer was it going to take to start? and Two: Why on Earth she’d offered to keep the younger teens and Will occupied for a couple hours?
